Looking Ahead by Looking Back

2011 is upon us! As we begin another busy year, we here at Regency paused a moment to look back at the many exciting developments in the Regency community in 2010. For our students and our employees, it was a big year!

The Regency community grew by leaps and bounds in 2010, most importantly through the achievements of our students. 2010 saw 2,626 students graduate from Regency! We're proud of their achievements, and we're happy to know that the network of Regency grads is larger and stronger than ever.

In 2010, we got encouraging feedback from our 2009 graduates. Even as economic worries continued to be felt in many walks of life, an incredible 90% of 2009 graduates surveyed reported finding work! That's a testament first and foremost to the hard work and skills of our graduates, and also to the salon relationships we've built nationwide and the strength of the cosmetology industry itself. Skilled stylists are always in demand!

Here are some other highlights of the year:

  • Regency increased our nationwide presence by opening 18 new campuses this year, including several in states that were new for us, such as Arkansas and Maryland. This growth provides our students with the backing of a reputation that will support them no matter where they go. We now have 80 campuses in 19 states, with more on the way!
  • We're thrilled to say that we've provided every Regency student with a comprehensive set of tools to manage their own progress in the program. With continually updated progress reports, paperless practicals, and the ability to see exactly where they are in the program any time, our students are truly in control of their own success!
  • We've come up with more ways than ever to celebrate each and every student's success and milestones in the program with our improved STAR® Program!  Progress and achievements are definitely worth celebrating, and our campuses now hold weekly ceremonies to recognize and reward our students' hard work.
  • We created an impressive graduation package for our students with enhanced diplomas, letters to accompany their resumes, and exciting graduation gifts and rewards.
  • All of our campuses stepped up to help others in their communities in a big way. Through fundraising efforts like carnivals, garage sales, bake sales, jeans days, taco bars, etc., students came together to raise donations of food, gift certificates, hand-made blankets, clothing, wigs, beauty services and cash to countless charities and worthy causes.

We have more in store for 2011! Hopefully, by this time next year, your success can be part of the story. Best wishes for a beautiful and successful new year!

Oh, the People You Will Meet!

Wondering what kind of people you'll meet when you become a student at Regency?   We recently asked our students to submit nominations for fellow students in their campuses who make their campuses a fun place to be. Laugh with Someone Every Day - it's #5 in Regency's Guiding Principles , a series of reminders to be exceptional and make a difference in people's lives day in, day out.

The response was fantastic! It made us proud to learn that so many of our students make such a difference in their campuses, and so many of their fellow students wanted to recognize them. When it was all said and done, we selected two winners.

Our first winner was student Stacey Brown, who attends our Greenfield campus. 40 students at Stacey's campus (yes...40!) sent hand-written nominations for Stacey to Regency's headquarters. According to Stacey's Campus Manager, "Stacey is a true inspiration in every way! All the students love her and look up to her. She is one of those students who makes you smile everyday and gives 100% of herself at all times."

There were lots of compliments from Stacey's fellow students, but this one summarized them all: "She has broken record after record in this school's history and instead of the typical 'I'm better than you because I hold records' attitude, she motivates other students and tells us it is possible to beat her records every day." From the sounds of it, Stacey is an inspiration and role model for ALL of Regency's Guiding Principles. Congratulations, Stacey!

Our second winner was Chris Bradshaw, who attends our Mesquite campus. 13 of Chris's fellow students nominated him. According to their submissions,  "Chris is a constant reminder that you can work and have fun. He is always making us laugh and bringing smiles to our faces. He will go above and beyond to turn your frown upside down! His vibrant personality impacts all of us simply because he cares enough to try to make every day full of laughter even when we are all stressed about the ins and outs of cosmetology school."

Chris's Campus Manager agrees: "Chris is always uplifting and tries to make us all laugh & enjoy our day. Like the apple a day that keeps sickness away, Chris is our apple!"

When you become a student at Regency, hopefully you'll have classmates like Stacey and Chris. Or you could very well be the next Stacey or Chris and earn the admiration and respect of your peers! Become part of the Regency community and find out...
