Oh, the Places You Can Go!
If you're like most people who are thinking about going to beauty school, you probably have lots of questions - not the least of which is, "what can I do with a cosmetology license?"
Some people have a passion to do hair, the whole hair, and nothing but the hair - and that's awesome! The world needs creative and talented hairstylists. You may already know that you'll be able to cut and style hair, but have you thought outside the box and realized the many different venues where you can work? There's a big world out there beyond a salon or spa. As a hairstylist, you could work in any of these settings:
- Cruise ship
- Tropical resort - Movie or television set - Backstage at a theatre - TV studio - Platform artist on stage

If your career aspirations go a different direction or if you choose to expand your horizons at some point, you're in for a beautiful surprise. Licensed cosmetologists have the world at their perfectly manicured fingertips! If you choose to venture out of the salon, one thing's for sure - you'll look fabulous doing it. Check out some of these other career options for licensed cosmetologists.
Beauty Writer or Editor: Combine your writing skills with your cosmetology license! Write about the world of beauty through any number of avenues including websites, magazines, books, and educational or marketing materials. (In fact, the writer of this very article is in fact a former cosmetologist!) |
Cosmetology Instructor/ Educator: As a cosmetology instructor, not only would you educate cosmetology students, you'd also have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of future cosmetologists and in the cosmetology industry as a whole. |
Cosmetology School Corporate Staffer: Many of Regency's Headquarters employees are licensed cosmetologists (including Regency grads!). Reputable schools who emphasize communicating with their students really value the background and experience of someone who's been there and can relate to their students. |
Beauty Product Representative: A product representative sells professional products into salons, builds loyalty to the product line they represent, and trains clients on product usage or techniques. If you're one of those lucky people who has both sales and beauty running through your veins, a beauty product rep could be a career perfectly suited for you. |
Salon Manager: You may want to learn how to manage a salon because you dream of owning your own one day, or you may just want the responsibility of running a salon without any of the risks of ownership. Managing a salon is demanding and challenging, but it's also a fantastic opportunity to learn the nuts and bolts of the beauty business. |
Salon Owner: You can become a business owner as many cosmetologists have. Because the demand for cosmetologists continues to grow, there are very real opportunities to become a successful salon owner. |
Whether you're a corporate-type or a free spirit, you love the spotlight or you're more comfortable in the background, there is a career path within cosmetology for you. If you've got the drive and the talent, you'll find the perfect path for your passion.

Your Network Just Got Bigger
You've got friends in more places than ever. Regency's national network of campuses continues to grow! So far, we've opened eight new campuses this year, and we've got many more planned in the next few months.
We don't cut corners when it comes to our schools - every one of our campuses is built from the ground up and designed to meet our very strict standards. All of our campuses are equipped with the latest tools in an environment so stunning, you'd never know you were in a beauty school. We design our campuses to mirror full service, upscale salons because we want our students to have a smooth transition from school to work.
We'd like to welcome the following new campuses to the Regency community!
Stay tuned for more!
What does this growth mean to you? Quite simply, it means that as a Regency student, you'll be attending a school that's recognized nationally; a school that's built a reputation on exacting standards and gorgeous campuses; a school that salon owners and hiring managers are coming to know as the premier cosmetology institute in the country.

How Do You Know Which School is Right for You?
How do you know which beauty school is right for you? You may be wrestling with that question right now. There is no "one-size-fits-all" answer, and there are no "one-size-fits-all" schools either. As you ponder this important decision, here are some things to look for when you're comparing schools. When you've found the right fit, you'll know it.
The Vibe • Do you feel welcome when you visit the campus? Do others take an interest in you? • Does the school have a stated purpose and guiding principles? Are they in tune with your values? • Does the campus seem like a good learning environment? Is it clean? Well-equipped?
The Basics • Has the curriculum kept pace with the latest trends and advances? • How are teachers trained and motivated? • Will you learn how to generate and retain clients? • Will you learn how to set and meet goals?
• How many product brands will you be exposed to? • Will you learn about products in various price ranges?
The Services • Is the school accredited? Is financial aid available? What is the process like? Does the timing work for you? • Will you receive regular advising, progress reports, and licensing support? • Will the school help with placement after graduation? Is the process clear and specific?
Icing on the Cake • Is the campus location safe and convenient? • Is the school thriving and growing? Would it survive in a changing industry? • How valuable would the school's name be on your resume? Is it known beyond your community? Nationally?
School is a big commitment and an important choice. Take the time to find the right school for you - it will pay off in the long run. |
