Countdown...The Top Five Reasons to Choose Cosmetology When it comes to deciding your future, you want to make a smart, educated decision - but you also want to have fun and love the career path you choose, right? Here's the deal...if you're interested in a career in beauty but haven't taken the plunge, we've put together the top 5 reasons to go to cosmetology school - starting with #5 and building up to the very best reason to get started today!
# 5: Because You're a People Person. Outgoing coworkers and lots of interpersonal communication with your clients will definitely feed your need to socialize.
# 4: Because You Want Flexibility and Freedom. Many cosmetologists enjoy an extremely flexible schedule - perfect if you want the freedom to enjoy other aspects of your life like family, travel, or hobbies. Many states also offer reciprocity so you can use your skills anywhere that you end up.
# 3: Because You Want Stability and Security.
No matter what the state of the economy is, people will always need beauty services! Cosmetology has always been a steadily growing industry and it's expected to continue to be so.
# 2: Because You Want to Help People Feel Good. How many people can say that they make a difference in someone's life every day? Whether you're working on someone who needs a little pick-me-up or someone who's marking an important event in their life like a wedding or graduation, you will have a lasting impact on each and every one of your clients.
And finally...
The # 1 Reason to Go to Cosmetology School: Because You Want to Make a Great Living Doing What You Love! In many ways, cosmetologists determine their own income. Your personality and skills play a large part in your tips, which can become quite a sizeable portion of your income. Commission on retail sales, word-of-mouth referrals and applying the business skills you learn in school could all add up to a nice paycheck for you.
Who wouldn't love to get paid for making people look and feel great? Think about it... on any average day you'll meet new people, express your creativity, learn something fun, and earn good money while you're at it.
"I never did a day's work in my life. It was all fun." ~ Thomas Edison

Who's the Fairest?
Creativity and style are always the words of the day at Regency Beauty Institute, but never more so than during our Salon Fairs when fashion, fantasy and artistic expression all combine into one fabulous day of networking, friendly competition, and fun.
Twice a year, every Regency campus holds Salon Fairs. Part job fair, part student competition, Salon Fairs give our students the chance to show off their skills and shop their resumes around, and local Salon Partners get the chance to see our students in action and talk with potential future employees.
Peoria Campus Salon Fair Themes: Icons and Fantasy First place student: Alesha Johnson/ Icons theme: Marilyn Monroe Second place student: Wanda Young/ Fantasy theme: Garden Goddess
Our Peoria campus had a great turnout for their fall Salon Fair. Our Salon Partners from Conrad Studios, Paula's Design Team, Headlines, Scissors for Hair, SmartStyles, HairCuttery, Great Clips and Trade Secret came out to enjoy our student competition. In addition to our Salon Partners, our students also invited lots of family and friends, so a huge crowd turned out to see the likes of Marilyn Monroe and a Garden Goddess (models, pictured below).
According to Campus Manager Laura Glover, "There were so many highlights, but probably the biggest this time was that we invited a representative from Easter Seals to accept a check from our student body's 3rd quarter fundraising efforts in the amount of $909.00. The Salon Fair is always a great day!"
East Tucson Campus Salon Fair Themes: Fairy Tales and Safari First place student: Corrine Perez/ Safari theme: Cheetah Second place student:
Alyssa Solano/ Fairy Tales theme: Ursula, the Sea Witch from Little Mermaid

The fall Salon Fair at our East Tucson campus was a huge success! A professional event planner donated her time to help decorate the campus, and Salon Partners showed up in full force to join in the fun. Representatives from Toni and Guy, KC's Hair and More, Great Clips, Cost Cutters, Smart Style, Regis, Supercuts, Hair Techniques and Style America were all on hand to judge the student competition and network with our future cosmetologists.

Campus Manager Lori Brawka beams, "As educators, we want to see our students shine. Our salon fairs are always so successful due to the passion that our students have for their craft! Our Salon Partners are always so generous with prizes and enthusiasm...it was just a fun day for all!"

A Beauty of a Weekend in Chicago
108 Regency students recently attended America's Beauty Show and gained the kind of real-world experience normally reserved for industry insiders. They got to mix and mingle with the cream of the crop in the beauty business. And the best part? Regency picked up the tab for their airfare, hotel, and food all weekend!
America's Beauty Show Chicago 2009 One of the largest salon professional shows in North America, America's Beauty Show has been an annual occurrence for over 80 years. Each year, tens of thousands of beauty professionals from all over the world attend America's Beauty Show to explore, learn about the latest industry trends, products and techniques, and get the latest equipment at show prices.
On top of the free trip, our students were treated to a formal reception with guest speakers Ann Mincey (Redken 5th Avenue) and Ivan Zoot (Andis Company), who also treated our students to a clipper cut demo. They also got great goodie bags loaded to the brim with hair products, tools, and makeup galore! What better way could there possibly be to round out a first-class education?
How did those students get there? It's simple really. Regency rewards you for doing the kinds of things you need to do to succeed after you graduate. By achieving goals related to guest satisfaction, service volume and retail, students earn special perks. It's called the Student Training and Rewards Program (STAR® for short). Students who achieve the goals set for them within the STAR Program can qualify for a trip to an industry event.
Next year, this could be you! To learn more about the show and what it took two students to get there,
