Why Cosmetology

Better question: why not?

Choosing a career in the beauty industry means opening up a world of possibility.

Going to beauty school is the first step towards your career in cosmetology. After you graduate and pass any required state licensing exams1, there are many opportunities to be explored. No matter which cosmetology career you choose, you can feel good knowing you’re making a difference in your client’s lives.

Here is just a little info about beauty careers:

  • Cosmetology is a dynamic, growing industry. Top talent is always in demand from coast to coast.1
  • Beauty jobs (including hairdressers, cosmetologists, manicurists and pedicurists, and skincare specialists) are expected to continue growing in the next 10 years2 which means there will likely be plenty of opportunities.
  • You will find salon and/or spa services almost anywhere you go! A career in cosmetology can provide added flexibility if you decide to move to a new place.3
  • Beauty careers can be very rewarding. You’ll be part of some big life events, like first haircuts, weddings, makeovers, and more! Plus, many beauty professionals are traditionally very active in charitable organizations like Locks of Love and Cut It Out.
  • Depending on your chosen path, you may be able to choose what hours you work. While some beauty careers will require you to work a specific schedule, others can allow for more flexibility.
  • There are always new and exciting things to learn! Even after beauty school, there are advanced training opportunities to keep you in the loop for the latest trends.

Bottom line: there’s no substitute for doing what you love. If you’re passionate and excited about cosmetology, then a career in beauty can be very fulfilling.

You may have tried other things that didn’t work out. Or maybe you’re just beginning to explore career options. No matter where you are, if you choose cosmetology as your career, you can open the door to a world of possibilities!
