Getting Started
(Workshop)
The first few weeks of school are spent in the classroom, where you'll learn the basics, like how to hold your shears, state regulations, and how to formulate and mix color. You'll also work on your very first clients: mannequins, other students, and friends or family members!
Building Skills
(Rehearsal)
After you've completed the workshop phase, you'll spend two days a week in rehearsal classes fine-tuning your skills as you learn more of the "whys," not just the "hows." You'll learn the nuts and bolts of the salon business, broaden your knowledge of anatomy and chemistry, and practice, practice, practice! Your understanding of face shapes, working techniques, color theory and business building will all come together to round out the skills you'll need to become a knowledgeable, confident cosmetologist.
Applying and Sharpening Those Skills (Performance)
The other three days a week, you'll be mastering techniques and finding your own style working on guests in the student salon! With the guidance of your educators, you'll be shampooing, cutting, styling, and coloring. You'll give facials, manicures, and apply makeup. You'll develop relationships with your guests and maybe even build a clientele that you'll be able to take with you when you graduate and start working in a salon!
STAR® Program
You'll have ongoing opportunities to earn perks and goodies like pampering time and cool tools of the trade through our STAR program. By reaching goals related to service volume, retail sales and overall performance, not only will you earn nifty rewards but you'll also learn the kinds of things that will make you successful after graduation - making you an excellent candidate for salons who are looking for professionalism and performance.
Salon Fairs
You’ll be expressing your creativity every single day, but twice a year you’ll really have a chance to shine at our Salon Fairs. We’ll invite our local salon partners to come by and check out your talent for a fun student competition/ job fair. You’ll bring in a model and give them a complete look - from hair to makeup to nails to the outfit they wear – based on a theme chosen by your Student Council. Our Salon Partners will serve as judges for the competition as well as let you know about employment opportunities and accept resumes. Salon fairs are your chance to network and show your stuff!
