What her career path has been like:
Maria started by renting a booth in a salon after she graduated from Regency. Today she works as a freelance stylist for photo shoots, videos and speaking engagements. “Don't limit yourself or your talent. There are a million paths to take in cosmetology. Take your time in school and find the right start for you!”

What she learned at Regency:
Maria felt the STAR Milestone Program, which rewards students for meeting or exceeding set goals at certain milestones in their program, helped her keep moving forward. “The STAR program gave me short term goals to work towards. That allowed me to focus on the outcome and pushed me to move faster all while making sure my guests were 100% satisfied.” She also felt that time on the Performance Floor prepared her for a career after graduation. “Being on the floor is real life. You are learning guest service 1-on-1, and building business skills needed in this industry. I got it, gathered it, and put it into motion in my career today.”

Her advice to Regency students:
“Take it seriously. I know it's fun and it comes so natural, but this is a real career and the possibilities are infinite. Stay focused, treat school like a job everyday...that way when you get your first position you’re already set to go! Do not compare yourself to anyone - you are unique! If this is something you love to do, show it in every hello, curl, up-do, cut, and color! Your attitude will get you to your end goal.
